Ready. Set. Go! Can you imagine Jesus thinking these words before giving His followers His final command in Matthew 28:18-20? These disciples had followed Jesus. They were ready. They had seen Jesus risen from the dead. He promised them His Spirit. They were set. Now, it was their time to go. Just before leaving for Heaven we read the mission that Jesus gave to His followers, words that form our mission statement at CCW:
All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV).
Ready. Set. Go! In this series, we will read and teach from the Book of Acts together. We will see the Holy Spirit leading Jesus' first disciples to live out the mission of Jesus, changing the world forever. As we journey through Acts, we will be inspired by the true and exciting stories of how the “great commission” is modeled for us by the earliest Christ followers. These disciples of Jesus were told to go. And they went. They made disciples. They baptized. They taught. They obeyed. They multiplied.
Today, as followers of Jesus in 2018, in this place, in our community, we each continue to live for the mission of Jesus. At CCW, we exist to live the mission of Jesus together.
Get ready…Get Set…Go! Make disciples. Baptize. Teach. Obey. Multiply. Jesus mission. Our mission.
Ready, Set. Go!
